Merry Christmas to all Graterakes (used the old spelling).

Especially to Jack Greatorex in Canada who has helped many of us in our research.

Greetings from North Dakota. My maternal family were Greatorex. My mother was the eldest child of Albert Harry Gowlett and Annie Elizabeth Greatorex. My My GGP on the Greatorex side were Heyrick Anthony Greatorex and Marie Lavina French of French's Flour mill in London. The only connections I can come up with is "The name of Greatorex" by Joan Greatorex. She Informed me in 2006 that she did'nt want to correspond with me but I should contact her grandson in Europe [I hav'nt dug up his address yet to correspond with him] I would like to hear from anyone who has recently dug up more info.

I was recently lucky enough to be given the partial memoirs of my g. grandfather, Henry Francis Greatorex. The memoirs begin when he is about four years old growing up in India up until he is an eleven year old apprentice sailor. The part I have ends when he has just fallen overboard and is going down for the third time....... He went on to become a Master Mariner. I'm just wondering if there is anyone out there who has a copy of the rest of the memoirs and maybe missing the first part. Does this ring any bells for anyone?
